Arvind Kejriwal Government Responsible For The Abnormal Raise In METRO FARES & Is Now Playing Petty Politics On Metro Fares --- DELHI BJP
MANOJ TIWARI & VIJENDER GUPTA TO MEET DELHI METRO CHIEF TO DEMAND WITHDRAWAL OF PROPOSED FARE HIKE
New Delhi, 1st Oct. Delhi BJP President Shri Manoj Tiwari & Leader of the Opposition in Assembly Shri Vijender Gupta have said that Arvind Kejriwal Government is evading its responsiblity on Metro Fare hike and trying to mislead the people by playing dirty politics. Delhi Government has a 50% stake in Delhi Metro Rail and no fare hike is possible without the consent of the Kejriwal Government. In the present fare rise matter too the Transport Minister & even the C.M. very well knew about the rise and allowed it.
Today's tweet of C.M. Kejriwal demanding public audit of Delhi Metro is a big joke on people as being 50% Partner the Kejriwal Government already has access to Metro accounts.
Delhi BJP President Shri Tiwari has said Kejriwal Government has no concern for the people and has made no effort to improve the public transport infrastructure in the city which includes Delhi Metro, D.T.C., Feeder Buses, Autos, Cabs and Rickshaws.
BJP leaders have said that early this year with the prior consent of Kejriwal Government the Delhi Government's Chief Secretary, Finance Secretary & Transport Commissioner joined the Delhi Metro's Fare Revision Committee meeting and approved a 50% raise in fares to be implemented in 2 phases i.e. in May & October 2017.
With the consent of Kejriwal Government the Chief Secretary & others who were present in the meeting approved the Metro fair hike and did not file any dissent over fare raise. All they did was to get the dates of implementation postponed to May as the Delhi Municipal Polls were scheduled in April 2017.
No Government leaves such decisions on bureaucracy and in this case too Kejriwal Government gave consent to fare rise but it's bureaucrats ensured that implementation is postponed beyond civic elections.
Shri Tiwari & Shri Gupta have said that Kejriwal Government has continuously played a irresponsible role in public transport matter be it in releasing permissions & funds for Metro or for improving D.T.C. services.
Delhi BJP believes that Metro Management of which Delhi Government is a part should review the proposed Metro Fare hike. The hike should be postponed till at least the completion of the 3rd Phase of Delhi Metro.
Delhi Metro Rail Management should work out ways & means to increase its in-house funds through judicial commercial use of lands under it.
A delegation of Delhi BJP including Shri Manoj Tiwari & Shri Vijender Gupta will very soon meet Delhi Metro Chief Shri Mangu Singh on the matter.
